Antofagasta Plc, parent company of Antofagasta Minerals, announced the arrival of Heather Lawrence to the company's board.With her incorporation, the international mining group of the Luksic family, which trades on the London Stock Exchange, will have four female directors, leaving almost 40% female participation. Lawrence has held senior positions in corporate finance and investment banking for more than a decade, specializing in business in the industrial and transportation sectors.In addition, she has extensive experience in companies as a non-executive director.
Currently, she is a non-executive director and chair of the audit committee at Melrose Industries.Previously, she held the same position at Coats Group and at FlyBe Group, being also the chair of the audit committee of the latter.
Regarding the appointment, Jean-Paul Luksic, Chairman of the Board of Antofagasta plc, noted that "after an exhaustive search process, we are very pleased that Heather has accepted the invitation to join our board", adding that the international knowledge and the important financial experience will be of great benefit to the company in the future.
