RADNOR, PA —-Radnor Township commissioners this week agreed to proceed with a $36,016 design study by Keystone Lighting Services on transforming the township’s street lights into LED lights to be more energy efficient.
Michael Fuller, president of Keystone Lighting, based in Boalsburg, Centre County, provided a presentation to the commissioners on the benefits of LED lighting. Portable Flood Light
Fuller said the township has 1,350 street lights of which 1,100 are the classic street lights that could be replaced with LED street lights.
In addition, the township has 183 colonial-type lights which could also be changed into LED lights.
The program is provided through the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission.
Fuller said the project would be customized to the township’s needs. He noted the street lights could be dimmed and set to specific times.
Fuller the basic upgrade cost an estimated $545,000.
Fuller said Tredyffrin Township has already put in the LED lights.
Commissioner Sean Farhy said the township supports energy-efficient projects.
"The project is fabulous," Commissioner Moira Mulroney, board president, said.
